Today the Supreme Court ruled that civil unions were discriminatory. So gay marriage is now legal in CT. I’m very excited about this because gives a lot of my friends the same right I have.

While I don’t plan to pay it a visit, I’d love to be a fly on the wall at my former Catholic church at this Sunday’s sermon. Can the proverbial sh*t hit the fan in a church?

      <dc:subject>Murphy</dc:subject>

Jeff’s mom found a little lump on Murphy’s neck on Sat. I couldn’t see it, but then Sunday at my mom’s I saw it. I was freaking out. (The Internet is so bad for medical advice - both pet and human.)

I have an appt. for Murphy on Thursday, but I wanted to talk to the vet. I missed his call yesterday and so I took a picture of Murphy’s lump.

I called the vet today and talked to my friend Lee, who is the office manager there. Dr. H is off today, but she said he calls in periodically. I gave her Murphy’s website address and asked him to take a look at it. Lee, being a pug owner of two herself, didn’t think it was at all odd that Murphy had his own website. In fact, she said that her Louie may be a bit jealous if he hears that Murphy does have his own URL.

Dr. H, on the other hand, may think otherwise. Then again, he’s been in the business for a while, knows a lot of pet owners and knows me quite well. This may be something he expects from a nut like me. We’ll see.

How to name your children, according to Sarah Palin

      <dc:subject>Random Thoughts</dc:subject>

"Todd Palin has said Track’s name came from the interest Sarah’s parents had in the sport and the fact that he was born in the sport’s season; Bristol was named after Bristol Bay in Alaska, where Todd grew up and where he does commercial fishing; Willow was named after Willow, Alaska; Piper got her name because it is uncommon and “a cool name”; Trig’s name is Norse for “strength”.

1)Your first-born will be named after your parents favorite sport:
My parents love baseball so my first born would be Strike.

2)Your second-born will be named after a nearby area that you’re not from but you like the sound of part of the name, and maybe you have nostalgic memories of said place. My dad was born in Lac Megantic so Megantic would be my second.

3)Your third-born will be named after another nearby place, for no reason other than you already have two children and don’t have time to put much thought into another name: I think most of our family lives next door in the city of Bristol, we’ll steal that one from the Palins.

4)Your fourth gets a “cool” name:
Meadow - why not? If it’s good enough for Tony Soprano, it’s good enough for my kid.

5)Your fifth gets something mythological, possibly straight out of Lord of the Rings or similar source: Hermione - love Harry Potter

Hope Jeff likes the choices. LOL (Hope he likes the idea of five children, too.)

P.S. Thank you for the surprise honey!

      <dc:subject>Random Thoughts</dc:subject>

The election is nearly a month away but I’m glad it’ll be over soon. I’m sick and tired of the circus acts as it is. I know, I know, it’s what makes America great because we can be free to bash our opponents, run nasty campaigns and SNL can make fun of the candidates.

But I’ve seen it getting nasty out there. I’m not leaning either way to tell you the truth. I’m on the fence. This is mostly because I’m just tired of all the b.s.

Does this make me un-American? No, I don’t think so. It’s a free country and I have the right to be annoyed with it all. It’s my opinion and as an American and it’s my right.

P.S. Did you know that Ralph Nader is running again? You have to admire a man that just won’t give up.

      <dc:subject>Random Thoughts</dc:subject>

But in me defense, I’ve been busy and life’s been crazy.

This week my excuse is I have been busy doing this and that and the other thing (wouldn’t you like to know what all that is about??!) Stay tuned.

And two weeks before that I spent some wonderful time in the ER because I pulled my back out making the bed. Yup, it’s possible. Jeff was in the shower and I was changing the sheets. I had the brilliant idea of putting the new comforter and bedskirt on. I wanted it to be all done by the time Jeff got out of the shower. I went to lift the mattress up and BOOM! Out goes my back. I screamed as I sank over the bed. I yelled for Jeff but he couldn’t hear.

I managed to get up on the bed where I laid there, crying and carrying on. Finally he got out of the shower and heard my cries. I got rolled over and he put a pillow under my head but there was no moving me. I was in horrible pain. A half and hour later I was on my feet and gingerly trying to walk. It was not easy. Every step was pure hell.

But thankfully, it was just a major muscle and not a disc. And I’m healing. I had to stay out of work for two days. I couldn’t sit for a day but little by little I got my flexibility back. Jeff was a champ. The first night I woke up at 1:30 a.m. to go to the bathroom. He was up with me. “What’s wrong?” he said, getting up. He’s usually a pretty heavy sleeper but even a move from me in bed got him up and making sure I was ok.

So, three weeks later and $500 at the ER and I’m better.

In a month and a half I’m going to DC for work. I’m very excited about this. One, I get to see my friend Michael. Two, I get to spend some time in DC and you know, all the museums are free! I hope to get to the Holcaust Museum. And Three, I’m extending my trip and going to see my friend Ginger in VA. Woo-hoo! I can’t wait. I have had the travel bug for a bit but no extra cash to cure it. This will be just what I need.

Hurray!

Random Moose facts

      <dc:subject>Random Thoughts</dc:subject>

A coworker and I were talking today (over our company instant message of course), and he told me he was starving he said, “I’m going to eat like a moose tonight.”

And then at the same time we both typed, “Do moose eat a lot?” So I had to look it up. (Hey, it’s slow here and I’m between cases.)

According to this website: http://www.thebigzoo.com/Animals/Moose.asp ...” Moose eat the twigs, roots, bark, and shoots of woody plants. In summer, they feed mostly on water plants such as the water lily and pondweed. During the winter they browse on conifers and eat their needle-like leaves. A moose needs 40+ pounds of food a day.

I posted this on my pug forum for a member who’s in Alaska.

She informed me that: “BECAUSE they eat all that wood, their droppings (moose nuggets as they are called up here) are dry and don’t smell. Jewelry is even made out of moose nuggets for the tourists.

As for the 40+ lbs a day… A full-grown bull moose can weight over 1,500 lbs, I can believe they eat that much!”

And yes, she will be sending me a moose nugget key chain that I will be presenting to my coworker. Yeah, it’s been slow here. Slow enough for me to brush up on my moose trivia.

And slow enough to give my blog readers something to waste their time reading. (Hey, you all asked for an update. You didn’t say it had to be quality. LOL)
