Murphy the pug
A day in the life of Murphy
The snow is finally melting so Mom and I did our morning walk in the park this morning. I made sure she got right out of bed when the alarm went off. Instead of rolling over and letting her hit snooze, I catapulted off the bed and ran into the living room. I heard her yell for me, “Come on Murphy, get back in bed!“ Nope, I was having none of that. So she came looking for me, and I know she thought I was in trouble. Nope, I was just sitting by my toy box in the living room.
So we went for a walk in the park. After I did my business Mom said to me, “Murphy, look, your friend is here today.“ I was so excited. My friend is a man whose name Mom and I don’t know. But he walks in the park every morning wearing a bright orange hat. Everytime he sees me, he has to stop and say hello. Then he tells Mom all about his grandpug, whose name is Pugsley. He said I’m quite thin next to Pugsley. Today he was telling Mom about the coyotes in town. He has cats but they stay inside so the coyotes don’t get them. I think Max and Hippie can be pains, but I’m glad Mom keeps them in so the coyotes don’t get them. Our friend said you can hunt coyotes, but not on Sundays. He said the coyotes have been attacking the deer. He scared some off last time he was hunting. That’s very scary. I hope I never meet a coyote.
After I said hi to my friend, we say my friend Nala, who is a German Shepard. She didn’t want to talk to me today, she was acting scared. So mom said it was time to go and I didn’t want to. I pulled back and Mom said, “Murphy, don’t you dare slip out of your harness.“ I knew she meant business. One time I slipped out of my harness and ran across the street. She was so scared. So I behaved. She said she’s going to tighten this one or put me in my old one.
I’m taking care of Auntie now. Mom dropped me off on my way to work. Auntie’s been blue lately so it’s my job to keep her company. I get to snuggle up to her and nap with her. She pulls me close and kisses my head. I love my Auntie and hate to see her so sad. I hope she feels better soon.
