Murphy the pug

A post from Mommy (Don’t believe a word of it!!)
My pugs are as different as night and day. Murphy is laid back and loves a good snuggle. Duke is a busy body and while he will tolerate a kiss on the lips, he squirms and just wants to be put down so he can grab a baby or chase the cat.
However, Murphy does have his bad side. No one believes me but what Murphy has in intelligence is usually used for evil and not good.
Case in point:
Friday night some friends spent the evening over my mom’s assembling wedding treats, favors, etc. One of these favors is for my shower. And while I know I shouldn’t have helped my sister had to work, one bridesmaid is at Boston U for the summer and I just don’t mind. So one of my bridesmaids, my mom’s best friend, my mom and I spent a good two hours assembling little plastic boxes with a pretty complicated label. It has paper, stickers, ribbon, M&Ms, etc. We had an assembly line going. And we got them all done. They are cute little clear boxes with personalized M&Ms in them, red and white, that say “Sam & Jeff” on some and “9/26/09” on others. (My mom insisted. I guess personalized M&Ms are more delish than plain ones.)
Fast forward to Father’s Day. Jeff took Duke with him and Murphy came to my parents with me. Murphy hung out with Manny, I watched the Sox game with my dad and afterwards, we grabbed a bite with my uncle and his family. We left Murphy and Manny home.
We got home, I grabbed my stuff and Murphy and we headed home to see Jeff and Duke. About an hour later I get a call from my mom. “Guess what that little sh*t did?“ Oh God, what now. Kitty litter? Peed on her scrap table again (he had a belly band on). There were so many possibilities.
Apparently she walked into the spare room where all the wedding stuff is and a quarter of the boxes of M&Ms were disassembled. He pulled the ribbon off some and tore some of the labels off. My mom said, “We’re lucky he didn’t get to the chocolate.“ I said (and this is horrific, I know) “I know! That’s $50 worth of M&Ms!!“
But he IS forgiven and we’ll chalk this up to Chapter Seven and call it a day. (All doors will be closed for pug visits from now on!)

Who needs electronics?
Mommy and Daddy say I am better than one of those fancy global guides. I’m GPS - The Global Pug System.
When we go bye-bye in the car, I makes sure we’re going the right way. I stand on the door, look out the window and survey the scene. Mommy and Daddy say I’m a good navigator. After all, we haven’t gotten lost yet!

I still need your votes to win!
UPDATE: I’m now ranked 9 of 257!!
But I need more help!
If you sign back into the site and give the top 30 or so dogs (or more if you feel adventurous – or have a lot of time on your hands) a one paw rating, his score can greatly improve.

I know a lot of you were admiring my brother and my harnesses. Here is the website where you can order your own!
We love our harnesses because they are custom made and fit us perfectly! You can get any fabric on her site or you can sent your own, like my uncle Manny did. She’ll embroider your name or anything you want on it. It’s perfect for handsome/pretty pugs like those in CT, or anywhere!

New harnesses!
Look at what Mommy and Daddy bought us for Christmas. I know it’s well after the holiday, but I think these were worth waiting for. Duke and I are going to be handsome pugs in these:
On the other side of my harness it says “GO DAWGS!“ cause I’m a big UGA fan. Duke’s says HMFIC. (It stands for head mf in charge - he’s tough like that.)
They are going in the mail today. They are custom made so they will fit us perfectly! (Which is good because Duke’s harness is getting a little tight. Must be because he’s finally living the high life in our house.)
Mommy will post pictures when we get them.

Sneak peek!
Here’s a sneak peek of us pugs in our Christmas best!

I am a good big brother…
As a big brother, I feel it is my duty to bestow my years of wisdom (hey, I’m 28 and a half in dog years) on my younger sibling.
This morning it was pouring rain for our walk. Mommy feared the worst: Duke would be a pee strike. But she’s relentless.
I tried to show Duke if you pee under the pine tree, you don’t get wet. He didn’t follow suit. So we trudged into the woods and he finally went. Mommy was so happy.
But it took him so long to pee, we were all soaked. Mommy had a coat on and daddy’s knit hat so she was ok, but we were wet pugs. Not a good thing! Pugs hate to be wet. It makes our fur frizzy.
Mommy ran to get us a towel. No need! I showed Duke how to jump on the couch and dry yourself off with the cover. At first he just watched me with interest. But soon my little brother caught on. He’s so smart!!
Mommy wasn’t as happy with my lesson. She kept trying to towel us off, but she just can’t get those hard to reach places we can by rolling around. By the way, our poof makes the best towel. It’s so absorbent! And the throw on the couch worked wonders, too. Mommy was not happy at first, but seeing Duke follow my lead made her laugh. That is until she found we had pooped on the floor. Party over!
I’m happy to pass these lessons on to my brother. It’s my job as the older one.
Next I shall teach him how to table surf for the taffy Auntie Heather brought Mommy and Daddy from Charleston. I learned this from Bonnie, my old foster sister. I believe she learned this from Nell’s guide to pro table surfing. Every pug should have a copy.

Uncle Handyman
This is Uncle Mike, posting on Murphy and Duke’s blog.
While being a good uncle and updating Samantha’s blog software, we hit a bit of a snag. Everything should be working much better now.
